The Last Tour of the Year through Boomkwekerij Johan van Overbeek

The Last Tour of the Year through Boomkwekerij Johan van Overbeek

Just before New Year's Eve, volunteers from Oirschot traditionally rode the Last Tour of the Year. During this ninth edition, over 150 cyclists passed by and through Johan van Overbeek's tree nursery—a special way to end the cycling year.

The route, designed by Twan van Dijck and Geert-Jan Aalbers, made for a varied and atmospheric ride. At our nursery, a surprising passage awaited the participants: a playful maze emerged between the trees, which ensured many smiling faces and a successful conclusion to the ride.

Following the ride, there was a lively afterparty with live music, soup, and hot chocolate. In the winter sun, people chatted about the past year of cycling and looked ahead to new plans. Prizes were also awarded for the best photos and outfits. Thanks to the efforts of the organizers, volunteers, and sponsors—and our own contribution, too, we were proud to announce—the entire proceeds of over €1,500 went to Duchenne Heroes, for research into Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

We look back on this successful day with great pleasure and thank to the volunteers and all participants for the excellent collaboration and the pleasant atmosphere. It was wonderful to end the year this way, among the trees and together.
